The Clockmaker, Ahmedabad



Gujari bazaar, Ahmedabad

One of the most unique markets i have been to in my entire life. A Sunday market full of every little thing you can imagine. Plus beautiful people doing unique intricate things. Its absolutely marvelous. I will, over a period of time, post a few more pictures from there. For now this one framed in 16*9 format of a clock maker- a very sweet old man.

    I know what you mean.. its such an intense sort of job that you at once wonder about him. Thats why i had to get this snap...im not sure if he knew right then but he sure did later.. ive got some more snaps of him smiling at me :)
    I have loads of very nice pictures from this visit and todays too.. will put em up slowly :)

    Both actually.. the Gujari market is also big on second hand stuff.. so he puts together some eclectic ones..
    I guess its no big secret then that im following your blog now? :) Nice of you to drop by..

    Found your blog through Steve McCurry's!Your photographs are very nice.I assume you belong to Ahmedabad.I have visited the city only twice after my brother shifted there 3 years ago.I thought it to be a dull place, a city of malls and multiplexes.Only now I have come to know that there are places like Sarkhej and the old city which are good subjects for photographing!
    BTW, I'm an artist and an amateur photographer.I take photographs only to be used as references for my paintings.

    Hi Ramesh... Hard to believe someone can appreciate my photos after seeing Steves! Hes absolutely great isnt he? :)
    Yes Ahmedabad is a great city for colour and heritage. Next time you come here you should visit the old city side and the step wells near the city... theyre absolutely beautiful. There are also pockets of some wandering tribes in Ahmedabad such as the Gulbai tekra which are astounding grounds for photography...
