Delectable paan, Ahmedabad

These are lovely paans decorated gorgeously! This was taken during Navratri in one of those large mela type places in Ahmedabad... there was soooo much to gawk at but this is what intrigued and appealed to my cameras eye!

15th August 1947, Delhi

Got forwarded these photographs. They're apparently of Indias first Independence day on 15th August 1947. My apologies to the anonymous photographer. I thought them rather fantastic hence im posting these here. I love the mood of the pictures somehow. The people milling in and around Rashtrapati Bhavan like that is impossible now. There does seem to be an environment of celebration...and isnt it so nice that even with so many people around.. the grounds seem wonderfully clean.

Bansuri seller, Mumbai

Bansuri Seller, Mumbai

This is another one of those rich sounds and sights place- Mumbai! This particular picture was taken early this year at the kala ghoda festival. Ive played with it a little bit and blurred the janta around to give some much deserved focus to the bansuri seller. Too bad i could not record what he was playing.. plaintive sweet notes in the middle of the chaos.

The Clockmaker, Ahmedabad

Gujari bazaar, Ahmedabad

One of the most unique markets i have been to in my entire life. A Sunday market full of every little thing you can imagine. Plus beautiful people doing unique intricate things. Its absolutely marvelous. I will, over a period of time, post a few more pictures from there. For now this one framed in 16*9 format of a clock maker- a very sweet old man.

Bugs day out...

The contrast between the lovely colours just popped at me! Aren't the red and blue shades just the most lovely you've seen?

I thought at first to place the bug further in the corner of the shot to give a sense of his journey ahead...but then the gentle lift in the wood might have been lost. I think it gives the picture some character..that blue door.. i will definitely get this shade for my doors and windows whenever it is that i start building my dream house :D

Old city charms- Ahmedabad

Taken in Ahmedabad during the Heritage Walk through old city last year.
The old city provides for some very entertaining frames. Great space for a photographer to blend into a corner, experience the flow of the world and find some of the most charming faces, activities and backdrops emerge.
